What is the use of Gmail's archive button?

I know people keep emails in their inbox when they've read them, and I thought the archive button in Gmail was to send it somewhere else. I still see people with emails in their inbox, though, and even videos about Gmail MADE BY GOOGLE have emails sitting in the inbox. What's the use of the archive button, then?
What is the use of Gmail's archive button?
It makes it easyer to organise important e-mails instead of sifting though all your old ones.. Well thats what i use it for
Reply:Archived email is still immediately available using Gmail's search function or by clicking the All Mail button. The beauty of Archive is that it hides emails that you have processed. Once you're read an email, or read %26amp; responded to an email, clicking the archive button will save the email (or conversation) OUTSIDE of your inbox.

Once you're done with emails, stop looking at them. Turn your inbox into a place for pending issues ONLY.

Hope it helps for more detail http://www.iyogi.net
Reply:It moves the message out of your inbox so the only way to access it is in the 'all mail' folder. The idea is you have so much space that you really don't have to delete things, but you still want to tidy up your inbox.
